Level 2 Principles of Providing Security Services

This qualification is designed for learners who are working in, or who want to work in, the Private Security Industry.

Duration – 15 days
Qualification Purpose: This qualification is designed for learners who are working in, or who want to work in, the Private Security Industry.
Learners must achieve a minimum of 15 credits, which comprise of 6 credits from 4 x mandatory units Group A, at least 1 credit from Group B and a minimum of 6 credits from Group C. Learners must achieve at least 9 credits from Group B and Group C. The Groups and Units are listed below:
Group A
Unit 1 – Working in the Private Security Industry – 1 Credit
Unit 2 – Conflict Management in the Private Security Industry – 1 Credit
Unit 3 – Solving Work Related Problems – 2 Credits
Unit 4 – Building Working Relationships with Customers – 2 Credits
Group B
Unit 5 – Working as a Security Officer in the Private Security Industry – 1 Credit
Unit 6 – Working as a CCTV Operator in the Private Security Industry – 1 Credit
Unit 7 – Working as a Door Supervisor in the Private Security Industry – 1 Credit
Group C
Unit 8 – Understand Security and Loss Prevention in a Retail Business – 2 Credits
Unit 9 – Learning with Colleagues and other Learners – 2 Credits
Unit 10 – Communicating Solutions to Others – 2 Credits
Unit 11 – Effectiveness at Work – 1 Credit
Unit 12 – Working in a Team – 3 Credits
Unit 13 – Building Working Relationships with Colleagues – 2 Credits
Unit 14 – Setting and Meeting Targets at Work – 2 Credits
Unit 15 – Contribute to Meetings – 1 Credit
Unit 16 – Develop Personal Skills for Leadership – 2 Credits
Unit 17 – Practising Leadership Skills with Others – 2 Credits

Assessment: This qualification is assessed by the following methods: multiple choice exam questions. Learners must achieve 70% correct answers to pass the exams. Learner portfolio, learners will be observed performing practical activities.

Pre-requisites:

1. Learners should have at least a Level 2 numeracy and literacy or equivalent
2. Learners should be at least 18 years old in order to undertake the qualification
3. Learners need to be able to provide at least one form of photographic identification or two forms of non-photographic identification.
