This qualification is intended for anyone who is working with children or young people, in either a paid or a voluntary role. The qualification includes information on what to do with a disclosure and how to protect yourself from allegations.

Qualification Purpose: This qualification is intended for anyone who is working with children or young people, in either a paid or a voluntary role. The qualification includes information on what to do with a disclosure and how to protect yourself from allegations.

The qualification comprises of 1 Unit, Introduction to safeguarding and protecting children or young people, which is split into 2 x Learning Outcomes (LO);
LO1 – Understand how to safeguard and protect children, young people and practitioners in the workplace
LO2 – Know how to respond to evidence or concerns that a child or young person has been abused

Assessment: This qualification is assessed by the following methods: multi choice examination paper. Learners must achieve 70% to pass.

Pre-requisites:

1. Learners should have at least a Level 1 numeracy and literacy or equivalent
2. Learners should be at least 18 years old in order to undertake the qualification
3. Learners need to be able to provide at least one form of photographic identification or two forms of non-photographic identification.

Progression Opportunities: Learners can progress on to the following qualifications:

1. Other courses related to child care or youth working.
